Fire at Logum-
Itanagar, Nov 12: Tragedy struck Logum-
Seven granaries were also gobbled up by the fire. The fire started from a house engulfed entire neighborhood within no time. Nothing could be salvaged from the devastating fire. Except an old man who could hardly stand on his own, all the residents were away in their agriculture fields when the incident occurred.
The old man, Bahor Ingo, 75, who was fortunately seen and evacuated to the nearby community house by a passerby, is still chanting his prayer of thanksgiving for that god sent rescuer.
The villagers, with their locally available materials and know how, could hardly extinguish the wildly behaved fire.
The area does not have fire tenders. The fire mellowed itself down before the feeble fire tending attempts of the villagers, and because of change in wind direction.

The forum hoped that Galo Welfare Society (GWS) would take up an urgent life sustaining initiative on top priority after coming to know about the carnage in one of the precious Galo villages.
In another incident at Pasighat, two Kaccha houses were burnt down this morning at Solung ground. Eleven families were residing in the houses.
One fire tender was pressed into service which took few hours to douse the blaze.
All the belongings of eleven families have been completely destroyed, said a report.
The DC (Incharge) SC Debnath, Nilima Kumar (SDO), S Jamoh (EAC) and G Tsomu (DRRO) visited the spot immediately.

He has urged the police authority to keep the service vehicles fully equipped with spares and refills to meet with any eventualities.

On the other hand, two rooms of a bachelor barrack of Sangram PWD division were gutted in a fire accidents affecting four families, said Nyain Sangram Phassang Students’ Union. Rijiju clarifies his stand on Pradip Thakur issue, suggests CBI inquiry
ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Former MP Kiren Rijiju has strongly quashed the news report of linking him to Pradeep Thakur fiasco. In a crowded press conference held today at Arunachal Press Club building, Kiren while taking strong exception to such malicious news report, urged people not to politicize the sensitive issue.
Giving detailed information along with full proof documents, Kiren said, “I was deeply
pained and surprised to see a statement in one of electronic (TV) channels wherein
my name was unnecessarily and unreasonably dragged into the Times of India-

“My relation with Nyishi Community can't be questioned by anybody. My family and my Community has deepest relation with Nyishi’s from ancient time and continues to be which can be testified by all the elders of the society”.

NEW DELHI, Nov 12: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today called on Planning Commission of India (PCI) Member B K Chaturvedi here at Yojna Bhavan despite the weekend holidays. He discussed various aspects of developmental issues and ways the Planning Commission can intervene and contribute in making Arunachal Pradesh a prosperous state, especially through Special Plan Assistance (SPA).
The new Chief Minister sought cooperation in the form of generous financial support from the Commission to complete undergoing projects and initiate new ones. He stressed that Arunachal Pradesh, being geographically a very large state but with lesser population and difficult terrains, needs to be dealt in a special way.
Tuki pointed out that the state is comprised of hundreds of tribes and communities, who have their own distinct issues that have to be considered specifically. Dividing the state into three zones – areas along the international borders, the hilly and middle zone and the scattered plains in the foothills, he said a pragmatic approach has to be initiated in planning and implementing all welfare and developmental projects. He also viewed that considering the distinct and strategic status of the state and its people, population as the basis of implementing developmental projects has to be revised as a special case for Arunachal Pradesh. “Keeping a minimum requirement of population as a prerequisite for implementation of central government projects and schemes has denied a full scale upsurge of developmental activities in rural areas of the state. It would be our earnest request to the Planning Commission to consider Arunachal as a special case and make considerations,” Tuki appealed.
He asserted that the state government will focus on development in a planned manner, especially in the sectors of road infrastructure, housing, drainage and electricity in all administrative circles on need basis.
In return of the Government of India’s generosity towards the state, the Chief Minister assured judicious and transparent utilization of all funds provided. He pointed the third party monitoring system in place to oversee utilization of government funds has ensured fair, transparent and judicious implementation of all projects and schemes in the state.
Giving a patient hearing, Planning Commission Member Chaturvedi assured Tuki that the Government of India will give all cooperation to see Arunachal emerge as a model state in the country.
“I am sure, with the enthusiasm of the state government and cooperation of the central government, Arunachal will become a model state in years to come. Other states of the country will then look up to it and imbibe its policies and initiatives,” Chaturvedi added.
ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Arunachal Teachers’ Association (ATA) conducted its general body meeting at Naharlagun recently.
During the meeting, various developmental and welfare measures were discussed and unanimously adopted nine points resolutions to be taken up by Central Executive Committee, ATA with the competent authorities.
The house resolved to urge the state government for creation of separate Directorate
for Adult Education in the state, immediate and timely release of fund to various
schools under RTE to meet up the stationery requirements, creation of more post of
Block Education Officer for smooth functioning of the education, especially in remote
areas of the state, creation of posts of headmasters in middle schools under Elementary
Education, implementation of random transfer and posting of teachers as per the Arunachal
Pradesh Education Act-
The house also felt necessity of technical committee to look after the recruitment rules and correction of pay anomalies.
It also authorized the CEC, ATA to pursue the competent state and CBSE authorities for establishment of CBSE Sub Centre at Itanagar.
The members further strongly objected the mass routine engagement of teachers in national programme like Census and Election duty. However, the members viewed that in case of unavoidable circumstances only one teacher from each school may be engaged in such duty.
Dr Hazarika’s ashes to arrive in Itanagar on Nov 14

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki is expected to arrive here on November 14 carrying the urn containing the ashes of music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika, whose mortal remains were consigned to flames inside the Gauhati University campus at Jalukbari Wednesday.
The Assam government had consented to hand over the ashes following the request of Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) that the cultural icon’s ashes be immersed in the major rivers of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to information, Tuki after his arrival at Guwahati would visit Bhupenda’s Nizarapar residence to meet his family members including son Tez Hazarika to convey condolences on behalf of the people of his state.

The gathering strongly condemned the indifference of the Central Government regarding the repealing or redrafting the AFSPA despite the recommendations made by Justice Jeevan Reddy Committee. The committee was set up to advice the Government on the Act but the Government fails to accept its recommendations.
In addition to the Jeevan Reddy Committee, the Second Administrative Reforms Commission in its 5th Report of 2007 has also recommended the repeal of the AFSP Act.
The gathering also strongly condemned the unequal treatment of the Central Government towards the North Eastern States, Manipur in particular.
Tamchi Niania
Tamchi Posi, son of late Tamchi Tama belongs to a poor family of Hote village under Sangram circle of Kurung Kumey district.
He became a member of Tungpe Farmers Club of Upper Hote in the year 2010 and went on to become one of the most active members of the Club.
After joining the club he got a change to attend 42 days training programme on skill development on cane and bamboo handicrafts from July 2010. The programme was organized by Rural Development and Heritage Society (RDHA) under the sponsorship of NABARD, regional office Itanagar.
After the training, he started making ‘Murah’ by collecting cane and bamboo from his relatives.
He sold two Murahs at a price of Rs 300 each to his friend from Sangram. Unexpectedly, his friend ordered one TV stand and encouraged him to take up the work sincerely.
“I started making TV and cloth stand, ‘murah’, flowers vases and at my own house whenever I got time. People from Sangram town and villagers were very much impressed with my work and they encouraged me to make different items.
I sold items worth Rs 6500 at the beginning with through which I managed to pay my
children’s school fees and other household needs,” Posi said. “We also participated
in one-
Thereafter, I started making mirror, tea tray and traditional glasses and baskets and started selling those items at Itanagar, Naharlagun and Doimukh.
He suggested the farmers of the state to take up handicraft by making good use of
raw materials available within their door-
If sincerely and seriously taken up, a good artisan can earn more than Rs 20,000 a month.
He mentioned that financial constraint was one of the main problems for every artisan.
“Due to poor financial background we can’t procure the required raw materials like cane and bamboo.
However, the Rural Development and Heritage Society Sangram has solved the problem by providing canes to the artisans at a minimal cost and on credit.
At present he is seeking for loan. However no bank has shown any willingness to grant loan to him.
RDHS urged the General Manager and Manager of NABARD, regional office Arunachal Pradesh, a pioneer institution in promoting rural industry, to help him by granting bank loan through RDHS.
Skill dev. training on tailoring, weaving begins
ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The 42 days skill development training on tailoring and weaving conducted by Manghi Welfare Society, Sangram began on November 7.
The main objective of the programme is to hunt skilled trainees to promote self employment at rural areas in collaboration with NABARD.
Attending the inaugural programme, Nyapin ADC Rubu Tabio stressed on discovering self employment opportunities and formation of self help group at village level.
Kipa Taro, BDO, Nyapin in his speech opined that NGOs are another wings of government, which implement Government programmes and policies in places where no Govt. machinery is available. He also spoke about role of NGOs in recommending self help groups for availing govt sponsored schemes like SGSY.
Tadar Lakik, Anchal Chairperson Nyapin in his speech, assured to provide the required materials to those successful trainees for establishing self employment venture and in availing other benefits.

The competition was held under the supervision of Gombu Tsering, EAC, Tawang wherein four teams comprising two students each from various schools took part. Tawang Public School, Lamberdung represented by Sonam Tsering and Rinchin Tsering stood first in the competition to receive cash prize of Rs. 2000 while Tawang Govt Hr. Sec. School team represented by Sonam Koncho and Tashi Tsetan bagged the second prize of Rs. 1500. Kendra Vidyalaya, Tawang (Girls Team) represented by Anita Sharma and Konak Rani won the third to receive Rs. 1000 and Kendra Vidyalaya (Boys Team) represented by Sherjin Raju and Sanjeet Kumar were awarded consolation prize of Rs. 500.
Public of Tawang township including students and Govt. servants visited the campaign on second day. The campaign was closed at 3.30 pm with introduction of a quiz competition by Gombu Tsering, EAC, Tawang as part of the campaign.
As the exhibition was first of its kind in the district, most of the visitors appreciated the organizing team and appealed to conduct similar campaign at the hearth of township in an open ground.
Responding to people’s demand, Taw Tassar, Inspector Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Tawang said that he will try to conduct similar awareness campaign at various places in near future. However, he encouraged people to fight against unfair trade practices and file complaint in case of any grievances as consumer.

The Tawang DC in his speech appreciated the NGO for organizing the legal literacy camp and said that the GB’s must get well acquainted with the powers and functions given under the Assam Frontier Regulation Act 1945 so as to deliver justice in the most fair and transparent manner.
Mosobi urged the students’ community to avail the rights guaranteed under the Right To Education Act 2009 and to study well to serve the society as a better human being.

Kirjum Taso passes away
ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Kirjum Taso, a young documentary film maker and entrepreneur died yesterday after a brief illness. Hailing from Torajan village, Kangku circle, Taso left behind his wife and three young children.

have mourned the demise of Taso. He was a founding member of DDJAC. The news of his
sudden and untimely demise has sent a shock wave among the people of Likabali-
NESO Secretary General Gumjum Haider also mourned the death of Taso. In a message, he said that with the death of Taso the state has lost a promising filmmaker.
He was also an executive member of Arunachal Pradesh Films and Televisions Producers and Director’s Association, Haider said, and prayed for his eternal peace.
The Nyiko Bachao Forum also deeply mourned the untimely demise of Taso.
